How does it work? Each Member, regardless of your membership type, receives a private customized personal profile which uniquely identifies the preferences of the Member and his/her designated captain, crew, family and guests. Yacht Lure. The term ‘Yacht’ stems from the Dutch word Jacht which means hunt. The Dutch created this fast, light vessel for military pursuit around shallow waters.
Yachts were mainly used for sailing purposes up until the introduction of the motor boats.
Yachts are now generally familiarized as being either a luxury yacht, or a sailing yacht.
It's not the size of the ship.
It's the fun on the water!
- Smaller yachts are known as Cabin Cruisers, or just Cruisers.
- Weekender yachts are slightly larger, at under 31ft in length.
- Cruising yachts are by the far the most common yacht in private use, making up most of the 23ft - 46 ft range.
- Most large yachts, 52ft and up, are also Cruisers, but their design varies greatly as they are often "one off" designs tailored to the specific needs of the buyer.
- Luxury sailing yachts are generally 82ft or longer. In recent years, these yachts have evolved from fairly simple vessels with basic accommodation into sophisticated and luxurious boats.
- Mega yachts 100ft+ and Super Luxury yachts 130ft+ may have their own crew.
- Super yacht is used to describe yachts 200ft+ and over!
